Guide: Jacob   Expedition: Fossil Crawl

“Everyone at the caverns was so nice, from the gift shop to the guides. My husband so wanted to do one of the guided tours "behind the scenes" so to speak. His size was a concern, he asked the first guide and he made a few suggestions and then decided lets get another person who has more experience so you get the most out of it. We settled on the Fossil Crawl. The day had arrived and we met Jacob, he took us to get our knee pads, helmet and gloves then we were off. The first crawl we did was probably the hardest and my husband began thinking he had made a mistake, but Jacob said he cold tailor the adventure to meet his needs and it all would not be like the first crawl. Jacob seemed to be in sync with my husband, seemed to know just when he might need a rest. Jacob frequently gave us options as to crawl, climb or whatever. At the end of the tour my husband seemed to have new confidence in himself and finished strong. Jacob even commented to him on how he was getting stronger instead of appearing to fade. When we emerged from the cave and went outside Jacob took my camera and asked if we would like a picture, even knew the perfect spot to have it taken.

The entire experience was perfect. That young man explained he had been with Raccoon mountain for appox. 4 mos. which I find shocking, his knowledge of the cave led me to believe he had far more than that. During one of our rest periods we discussed his age, a mere 17, we discussed his future dreams. I found this young man to be mature beyond his years and so intuitive as to the needs of my husband. I can not do justice in thanking him and Raccoon Mountain. The Fossil Crawl was certainly the highlight of our trip. My husband has told everyone that has asked about our vacation about the wonderful young man we had the privilege of meeting.

Thank You to everyone at the caverns that made our trip a success. Please see to it that Jacob gets a great big "atta" boy from us and his superiors. They must know what wonderful employee they were wise enough to hire.”

”I've been planning to e-mail you for the last 6 months, but it keeps slipping my mind! I brought a Bible study group for an overnight wild tour back in March, and wanted to let you know what a great experience we had. First of all, you all are sooooo group friendly, which I really appreciate. I have planned other trips before that can become so stressful because of a lack of flexibility and good communication. Your group tour department far exceeded all others that I have dealt with. You were so flexible with our numbers, which takes a lot of stress off. Plus your communication was excellent--over the phone, email and the mail. I definitely recommend you guys for groups looking for a fun and exciting event. Then my group had such an awesome time on the tour itself. Our tour guide was very personable and helped us have a great time (I think his name might have been Jonathan?). Everything was well organized from the planning stages through the tour and breakfast in the morning. Thank so so much for such an enjoyable experience! Keep up the good work!

“We took the Echo Room Expedition June 21st with our grandchildren. It was very exciting! Kyle was an excellent guide. He quickly evaluated our abilities and kept the tour challenging without being too difficult. It was more challenging than I expected but was exactly what I was hoping for.
